The GüdDish Pound Cake

We searched the open web for Pound Cake methods. We scanned 131 roster sites. We kept 24 methods in the dish corpus. 15 had ratings we could audit for GüdScore. Most specialty pages are unrated blogs, fish markets, or video. Then we built the BEST!

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/3 tsp salt

Method

    Heat the oven to 350°F. Grease or line your pan as needed.

    Beat the butter with the sugar until the mixture looks even. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Add the vanilla. In a second bowl, whisk flour, salt, and leaveners and spices from your list. Fold dry into wet until just combined.

    Scrape the batter or dough into the pan (or scoop cookies onto a sheet) and level or space evenly.

    Bake until a toothpick in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs, not wet batter. Cool in the pan a few minutes, then on a rack.

    Serve once cool enough to hold together. Store covered once fully cool.
